Biography
Alison graduated from the School of Pharmacy, University of Manchester in 1987 and undertook her pre-registration training at Oldchurch Hospital in Romford. After basic grade training as a resident pharmacist at the Hammersmith Hospital she took a Medicines Information (MI) and Formulary post at Charing Cross Hospital, then acted as the MI Manager. She was later MI Manager at St.Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, with responsibility for Formulary and Drug and Therapeutics work. She has worked at the regional MI centre based at Northwick Park Hospital since 1994.
Alison also completed a Fine Art Degree (in Critical Fine Art Practice) at Central St.Martin’s School of Art and Design in 2000.
Current Posts
Since April 2007 Alison has been on secondment to The School of Pharmacy acting as the Course Coordinator for the Diploma in Pharmacy Practice, and additionally since January 2008 has been working on the development of a programme to support pharmacist practitioners in the development of advanced practice. She also retains the regional MI Research Lead role and is keen to encourage and support research in this area. She is currently undertaking an MSc project to investigate the impact of MI enquiry answering services on patient care.
