Biography

Barry graduated from King’s College in 1990 and undertook his pharmacy pre-registration training at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.  After basic grade training he undertook an MSc. in Clinical Pharmacy at the Square that involved taught clinical and health service material as well as conducting health beliefs/medication adherence research in haemodialysis patients.  Barry then returned to St Mary’s as deputy clinical services manager.  Barry has wide-ranging general clinical experience and specialist experience in intensive care and renal pharmacy.

Barry undertook teacher training at the City Literary Institute and the University of Greenwich in the mid 1990's following which he became a Teacher-Practitioner at King's College and the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.  As well as contributing to various programmes of study, this joint appointment allowed Barry to develop wide-ranging tutoring experience ranging from undergraduate to pre-reg to postgraduate level.  Barry remains an Honorary Lecturer at King's but left in 2001 to undertake various roles in education and training at the Chelsea & Wesminster.

Barry is also trained as a counsellor and has completed studies in theology and counselling.  As a counsellor he mainly worked alongside clients with marriage/relationship, depression, identity and faith issues.
