Biography
Dr Laura Obiols Albiñana obtained her Pharmacy degree at the University of Navarra (Spain) in 2003. She completed her pre-registration placement at the Barts and the London NHS Trust. After a year of working as a research pharmacist both at the Royal London Hospital and the School of Pharmacy, she was offered the opportunity to undertake a PhD. Her PhD was based at the School of Pharmacy in the University of London, supervised by Prof Ian Bates and focused on the development and evaluation of a Competency Framework to support pharmacy practice at advanced levels. Since 2004, she has been collaborating with the Competency Development and Evaluation Group (CoDEG) whose work aims to develop pharmacist practice standards at General and Higher Levels, competence development models and strategies for Higher Education reform.
Laura's areas of expertise include quantitative and qualitative Health Services research, Advanced Pharmacy Practice and competency frameworks.
Laura has trained as a ballet and contemporary dancer for many years and is now part of The Place School for Contemporary Dance in London. She also did a Fashion Degree (specializing in Art Direction in 2006) at Central St. Martins’ School of Art and Design.
Current Post
Laura has worked for the Joint Programmes Board since June 2008 as the Manager for the Advanced Pharmacy Practice (APP) Programme. This position involves supporting the development, validation and day-to-day running of the APP Programme.
