Biography
Roisin graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1993 and undertook pre-registration training at Hairmyres Hospital, East Kibridge. During basic grade training she undertook the MSc. in Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Strathclyde of. Latterly this included research into the dosing of gentamicin in neonates which was undertaken whilst working in Medicines Information at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow.
Since 2001 Roisin has worked at Stoke Mandeville (now part of Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust) initially as the Primary/Secondary Care Liaison Pharmacist. Specialist clinical experience includes emergency medicine, paediatrics and neonatology. In 2003 Roisin became a Practice Educator Pharmacist which involved supporting local and regional pre-registration pharmacist training. During this time Roisin was both a pre-registration tutor and diploma tutor for pharmacists undertaking postgraduate diplomas with Cardiff University, Brighton University and London School of Pharmacy. In 2007 Roisin was seconded to work with the Joint Programmes Board in support of the newly developed Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice. This part time role allowed continued clinical commitment to Emergency Medicine at Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust and implementation of DipGPP at the Trust.
Current Posts
Roisin is now Programme Director of the core element of DipGPP which is a varied role and includes managing the learning set programme and reviewing the Curriculum in liaison with Specialist Pharmacy Services across London, East and South East England. She works closely with Jig Patel and the rest of the JPB team to manage and develop the diploma programme on behalf of the Joint Programmes Board. The other half of her working life is spent at Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust developing the newly formed Academic Pharmacy Unit.
